Africans will 'flood the world,' says Chirac
PARIS, July 14, 2006 (AFP) – President Jacques Chirac of France said Friday that without economic development in the coming decades Africans “will flood the world.”
Asked in a July 14 televised interview about the problems of illegal immigration, Chirac said “we have to go back to the basic issues.”
“One cannot solve a problem outside of its context, and the context here is obviously north-south …. Today there are 950 million Africans in Africa, 450 million under 17.
“In 2040 there will be two billion. If we do not develop this Africa, they will flood the world,” Chirac warned.
