The federal Immigration Minister says 39 illegal workers found in South Australia's Riverland and Adelaide will be returned to their home countries.
Kevin Andrews says the unlawful non-citizens were found during a three-week investigation, prompted by a community tip-off.
He says the workers are from Asia and had been employed within the horticultural industry.
Mr Andrews says employers need to ensure all staff have permission to work.
“What we want to do is to actually have a situation where employers know their responsibilities and that they check to see whether somebody has the right to work in Australia,” he said.
