Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 28 (IANS) There has been a spurt of applications for migration to Canada from Kerala in the past five years with as many as 10,000 applications submitted every year, sources from an immigration consultancy said Thursday. Currently, there are more than 50,000 applications from Kerala that are pending for the past five years before the Canadian Immigration authorities. With the Canadian government amending their immigration law this June, all those who have applied after Sep 1, 2006 and before Feb 27 this year can resubmit their applications for speedy processing at no extra cost, G.K. Nair, chairman of Coast to Coast immigration consultancy, told reporters here.
He said with the new rules, any one with the desired qualifications and work experience can migrate to Canada within a year.
The recent spurt in migration is on account of many people from Kerala moving over from Middle-East countries.
