West Van immigration lawyer jailed for fraud

A West Vancouver immigration consultant will spend a year in jail after being convicted of fraud and uttering a forged document.
Fereydoun Hadad, 72, was found guilty March 1 and given the one year sentence plus a years probation after pleading guilty to the charges.
West Vancouver police had launched an investigation into Hadad in April 2008 after they were alerted by the Canada Border Services Agency and Vancouver police about a Surrey womans complaints.
The woman alleged more than $50,000 had illegally been transferred from an account she set up on Hadads advice. Investigators determined that the funds were transferred to a business account controlled by Hadad.
