By The Numbers

Here is a myth: Illegal immigrants do not displace American workers; they do jobs Americans won't do.

Here is the truth: Illegal immigrants do displace American workers. The supplantation has been staggering. The chief victims are young workers. The impact is larger for native-born black and Hispanic males than for their white counterparts.

Northeastern University in Boston conducted the study. You'll find it online at www.cis.org, courtesy of the Center for Immigration Studies.

Some specifics:

Illegal aliens accounted for up to 56 percent of the net increase in civilian employment in the United States from 2000-2005.

In that period, employment for native-born men 16 to 34 years of age declined by 1.7 million; the number of new male immigrant workers increased by 1.9 million.

The sheer influx of illegal laborers — and employers' eagerness to hire them in the face of lax law enforcement — has resulted in a fundamental breakdown of labor law.

We read the report. It's difficult to plow through. But we recommend you do the same.

It's an eye-opener that will provide you with all the ammunition you need to counter those who would rather coddle illegals and illegal activity than defend this nation from the continuing illegals invasion.
