Immigration Conspiracy Against Maori?

Immigration conspiracy against Maori?

Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia believes the increase in immigration is part of a government attempt to prevent Maori from getting too much political power.

There will be no additional Maori electorate at the next election due to the increase in Maori numbers being overshadowed by a rise in the overall population.

Mrs Turia says she knows New Zealand needs immigration, but not at the present numbers.

“At a time, when Maori people could regain some political clout the Government, in fact, has had quite a major immigration policy going on.”

Mrs Turia believes immigration policies are a deliberate move to make sure Maori numbers do not grow at a faster rate than the rest of the population and claims the Crown has been doing it for years.
